About the position

The Child Nutrition Program (CNP) Worker is responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for students and staff in a safe and clean environment. This role supports the educational program by ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and providing excellent service to the school community.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals for students and staff that are nutritious, tasty, and attractive.
  • Familiarize with local, state, and federal regulations regarding food safety and USDA meal pattern requirements.
  • Provide cordial and professional service while working cooperatively with administrators, co-workers, teachers, staff, parents, and students.
  • Operate food service equipment and clean and sanitize it according to HACCP regulations.
  • Serve meals by reviewing and following recipes, assembling, combining, and cooking ingredients, and maintaining a sanitary kitchen.
  • Adhere to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures; maintain temperatures and HACCP logs as required.
  • Maintain appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all food.
  • Follow standards of institutional food preparation, portion control, and serving.
  • Ensure high-quality food preparation and serving standards.
  • Assist and maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.
  • Ensure the proper storage of food and supplies.
  • Assist in taking accurate inventory of food, supplies, smallwares, and equipment.
  • Notify the manager or assistant manager when food and supplies need to be replenished.
  • Maintain confidentiality of work-related issues, records, and school-related information.
  • Participate in staff development programs and attend other meetings as required.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or experience in food service operations or related field.
  • Considerable knowledge of safety, sanitation, food preparation, and equipment in quantity food production.
  • Have or obtain food protection manager training and certification (ServSafe).
  • A minimum of 13 Professional Development hours must be obtained.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance.
