About the position

The CoMET Project Manager at HVJ Associates, Inc. is responsible for overseeing engineering projects across various disciplines, including water, wastewater, drainage, roadway, and structural engineering. This role involves planning, organizing, and controlling project elements to ensure successful project completion for municipal, county, and private clients. The Project Manager will manage small to medium complexity projects, ensuring compliance with quality standards and effective communication with clients and project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Complete engineering projects by planning, organizing, and controlling project elements.
  • Provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects.
  • Prepare, write, and review related reports for the services provided.
  • Review material testing reports to assure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates, track and evaluate project progress, budgets, and review invoices of assigned projects.
  • Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
  • Communicate with project team or client representatives to resolve noncompliance reports and other testing-related issues.
  • Coordinate with technicians for project-related services.
  • Perform special inspection and construction material testing for building, transportation, and commercial projects.
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects assigned.
  • Attend progress and pre-construction meetings of assigned projects.
  • Assist in developing scope of work for routine projects.
  • Conduct, coordinate, or supervise field investigation/testing, laboratory testing, and evaluation of respective data.
  • Review prepared final field test or inspection reports and lab test reports before sending to the project team.
  • Interact with clients and project teams in developing scope of services and communicating project progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • PE License in the State of Texas is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience required.
  • Excellent verbal communication, listening, and writing skills.
  • Critical thinking skills to solve problems and weigh possible solutions.
  • Self-discipline to work independently and stay focused.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in managing projects for public works, transportation, commercial, energy, or industrial sectors.
