About the position

The Co-op Data Analyst position at Philips in Cambridge, MA, offers an exciting opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to gain hands-on experience in the HealthTech industry. This internship is designed for individuals who are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields. The role will span from January to August 2025, providing a comprehensive experience in data analysis and reporting within a dynamic team environment. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines for performance data, which will contribute to the development of a highly scalable Philips Hospital Patient Monitoring distributed system. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and enforce standards for building data collection and reporting solutions. The project will involve collecting data from various sources and processing it into a common dashboard, creating models based on the collected data, and generating insights and predictive analytics. Additionally, you will assist in interpreting raw data and statistical results, continually exploring opportunities to enhance processes in the ongoing development of analytical tools, models, ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and analyses. Automation techniques will be applied to existing reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy, making this a vital role in the data analytics team at Philips.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement ETL (Extract Transform Load) pipeline for performance data.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to design and enforce established standards for data collection and reporting solutions.
  • Collect data from disparate sources and process it into a common dashboard.
  • Create models based on collected data and generate insights and predictive analytics.
  • Assist with the interpretation of raw data and statistical results.
  • Explore opportunities to improve processes in the development of analytical tools and models, ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and analysis.
  • Apply automation techniques to existing reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant courses.
  • Experience with DBMS concepts (e.g., SQL Server and SQL queries).
  • Proficient with MS Excel.
  • Prior knowledge/experience with a data analysis tool (e.g., Qlik reporting, PowerBI dashboard, Tableau) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, C#, or C++.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub actions, Azure DevOps) is a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in university and/or previous internships or co-ops in data analytics, data science, or software development.
  • Self-starter, independent, and willing to quickly learn new applications and technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with No-SQL databases is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau or PowerBI.
