About the position

Eaton's ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Co-Op for the Spring 2025 term in Moon Township, PA. This position offers a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the electrical design of circuit protection products, contributing from project initiation through to manufacturing launch and ongoing developments. The co-op will engage in various tasks including the design, testing, and certification of components required for residential circuit protection. This role will provide exposure to electro-mechanical systems and product qualification processes, focusing on performance, reliability, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), and cost optimization of the final product. The Electrical Engineering co-op will work closely with a diverse team, including the Engineering Manager, Program Manager, Mechanical Engineers, System Architects, Electrical Engineers, Product Line Marketing Manager, and Operations team members. This collaborative environment will allow the co-op to develop products efficiently according to Eaton's Pro-Launch process. The position will also involve project management responsibilities, requiring the co-op to manage projects to completion using a phase gate project management platform. Strong communication skills, ambition, and a passion for product design are essential for success in this role. In addition to technical responsibilities, the co-op will contribute to firmware and electrical developments for embedded systems and micro-controllers, support embedded firmware development using code repositories and agile methods, and enhance existing products based on evaluations of new technologies. The co-op will also be involved in developing and reviewing PCBA layouts, designing and testing electric circuits, and performing technical evaluations of third-party solutions. Participation in project management and engaging with multi-disciplined teams will be crucial to achieving project goals. The co-op will also assist with third-party certifications and ensure timely completion of project commitments, culminating in an end-of-rotation presentation to management.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to firmware and electrical developments for embedded systems/micro-controllers
  • Support embedded firmware development using code repositories, code reviews, build servers, and agile methods
  • Support the enhancement of existing products and services based on evaluations of existing and new technologies
  • Develop and review PCBA layouts
  • Design and test electric circuits associated with circuit protection
  • Support and perform technical evaluations of third-party solutions and assess opportunities to develop partnerships or new suppliers
  • Participate in project management and engage with multi-disciplined teams to achieve goals using ProLaunch and other project management tools
  • Participate in Voice of the Customer (VOC) product and market requirements research
  • Provide assistance with 3rd party certifications such as UL, CSA, ISTA, and other regulatory agencies
  • Ensure timely completion to project commitment dates
  • Complete end of rotation presentation to management

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled full time in Bachelor's degree or master's degree in electrical or Electronic Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Able to complete 3 full rotations of co-op
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
  • Must be located within 50 miles of Moon Township, PA
