About the position

As a Hardware Engineer Co-op at Rockwell Automation, you will join a dynamic team focused on developing next-generation automation control systems. This role involves validating the functionality and performance of new hardware, ensuring compliance with functional, regulatory, and safety requirements. You will be part of a collaborative environment that emphasizes knowledge sharing and mentorship, aimed at overcoming engineering challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Work on an agile team to develop test requirements and execute hardware verification test plans with traceability to product requirements.
  • Conduct board level functional testing, EMC/EMI, Safety Agencies (UL, ATEX, IECEX), Functional Safety (IEC 61508), and Environmental testing.
  • Perform programming, analysis, and troubleshooting of electronic hardware prototypes.
  • Contribute to associated product design documentation and test reports.
  • Take ownership of assignments by understanding expected output and collaborating with teammates.
  • Build relationships with technical leads and peers to enhance knowledge of the product development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree at an accredited college or university.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar technical degree.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Previous co-op/intern experience in Hardware Development and/or Embedded Systems.
  • Experience using design capture tools and understanding schematics.
  • Basic knowledge of circuit theory and operation, including microprocessors and digital logic devices.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware test equipment, including debuggers and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience developing and/or using programs (assembly, C/C++, Python, ladder) for product initialization, debug, or test.
  • Experience working as part of a team using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems and programmable logic controllers.
  • Experience performing product certification testing.
