About the position

The Co-op position in IGTD R&D Mechanical Engineering at Philips offers undergraduate and graduate students a paid internship opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a HealthTech company. The role focuses on providing mechanical engineering support for the development of advanced ultrasound imaging transducers, engaging in tooling and assembly development, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Mechanical Engineering support for the development of next generation Intra-cardiac Echocardiography (ICE) ultrasound imaging transducers
  • Participate in the development of new tooling and mechanical assemblies using SolidWorks
  • Set up and execute experimental evaluation of material designs and fabrication processes
  • Work alongside a multidiscipline group of engineers ranging from mechanical, electrical, materials, acoustic, and system/software engineers
  • Deep-dive into real engineering problems and learn to implement products through the engineering design process (Design-Build-Test-Learn-Repeat)

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering
  • Previous design and test experience (third time co-ops preferred)
  • Knowledge and understanding of SolidWorks (part, assembly, and drawing skillset)
  • Strong critical thinker and embracive of new and challenging problems
  • An independent, self-sufficient, and responsible student

  • A strong team player (Social skills, collaboration, and teamwork are all integral to a successful product)
