About the position

The Machine Learning Data Scientist Co-op position at Biogen is a 6-month student role aimed at leveraging advanced computational analysis techniques on genomics and transcriptomics datasets. The role focuses on utilizing machine learning models to enhance RNA-seq analysis and image segmentation for spatial transcriptomics, while collaborating with various discovery teams to drive innovative research in the field.

Responsibilities

• Leverage cutting-edge machine learning models to improve single cell RNA-seq analysis.
• Implement machine learning algorithms and develop computational tools/packages.
• Attend scheduled team bi-weekly meetings and provide updates on progress.
• Utilize computer vision and LLM models to enhance segmentation in spatial transcriptomics data.
• Develop and maintain computational tools for GPU computing and scRNA-seq analysis.

Requirements

• Strong programming experience in Python and Pytorch.
• Extensive experience using UNIX Bash and high-performance computing (HPC).
• Solid knowledge in machine learning.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.

Nice-to-haves

• Hands-on experience in single-cell RNA-seq analysis.
