About the position

The Manufacturing Engineering Co-op position at AAM is designed for a hardworking and self-motivated individual who is currently enrolled in a mechanical engineering or related technical degree program. This role involves assisting with various process engineering activities, contributing to continuous improvements, and supporting the Manufacturing Engineering team at the Three Rivers, MI facility. The position offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in a leading global automotive supplier environment while working towards a degree.

Responsibilities

• Assist with process engineering activities associated with assigned manufacturing area(s).
• Work on continuous improvements.
• Attend Process Improvement Team Meetings.
• Manage engineering changes as they occur.
• Assist with troubleshooting daily production problems through root cause analysis techniques as they occur.
• Maintain quality & process documentation - Control plans, PFMEA's, Picture Process Sheets, Tooling Sheets, etc.
• Perform tolerance stack-ups to assist with tooling design.
• Develop and maintain program-tracking documentation.
• Adhere to Engineering Corporate policies and procedures.
• Implement safety and good housekeeping standards.
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• Candidates must be enrolled as a full-time student from an accredited college or university (12 or more credit hours) and working towards BSME in mechanical engineering or related technical degree field.
• Graduation of December 2025 or later.
• Minimum of 3.0 GPA.
• Must be available to work at least 20 hours per week during school periods or ability to work in a rotational plan.
• Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the ability to learn other programs used by various AAM departments.
• AutoCAD is preferred and a 3D modeling software as well.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and high attention to detail and accuracy of information is required.
