About the position

Arconic is a leading provider of aluminum sheet, plate, and extrusions, as well as innovative architectural products that advance various markets including automotive, aerospace, commercial transportation, industrial, packaging, and building and construction. The company is currently seeking highly motivated and energetic students to join its Co-Op Program, specifically for a Mechanical Engineering position. This co-op opportunity allows students to engage in dynamic and innovative projects while receiving ample mentoring and professional development. Students will have the chance to apply their education to real-world situations through hands-on learning, gaining invaluable experience that can be utilized in future roles. While the program aims to evaluate co-op associates for potential entry-level openings, full-time employment after completion is not guaranteed. The co-op position is set to last for one year, from January 6, 2025, to December 20, 2025, and offers a pay rate of $4,000 per month, along with a $750 monthly housing stipend. Additionally, co-op students will receive two weeks of paid vacation and paid holidays. The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, although there may be occasional off-shift requirements that necessitate work outside of these hours.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the guidance of a manager and mentor during the co-op period.
  • Engage in projects that have a real impact on the business, collaborating with other engineering employees.
  • Assist with maintenance, repairs, project planning, and other assigned tasks in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Maintain good standing as a co-op student with the University of Tennessee - Knoxville.

Requirements

  • Must be a student at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville qualifying for co-op status.
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Completed Freshman year of schooling by the start of the first rotation.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
