About the position

The Co-op position at Schaeffler offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on engineering experience while contributing to innovative projects in the field of motion technology. This role is designed to develop students' industry knowledge and skills, preparing them for potential full-time positions within the company. Participants will work closely with experienced professionals and cutting-edge technology, focusing on various engineering tasks related to product development and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Define and document process parameters
  • Support design efforts for product development
  • Quantify and lead actions needed for scrap reduction
  • Support design tasks, including calculation, simulation, CAD modeling, analysis, and component sizing
  • Conduct component or system level mechanical testing
  • Perform component teardown analysis, including physical teardown, inspection pictures, and documentation
  • Effectively communicate with cross-functional teams to complete assigned tasks
  • Work independently and be open to instruction
  • Participate in developmental opportunities through projects, job-rotation, hands-on training, and exposure to Schaeffler's technological processes

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher per semester
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication ability (written & verbal)
  • Extremely self-motivated & driven to achieve results
  • Assertive approach to solving problems
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods and lift and move thirty pounds

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SAE collegiate competition team (Formula, Baja, etc.)
  • 3D CAD modeling and software experience
  • Mechanical hobbyist
