About the position

The purpose of this position is to perform the role of an engineering technician on a medium-sized, broad and diverse task force. This requires comprehensive knowledge of an individual engineering discipline and general knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines. The engineering technician will be responsible for performing various engineering assignments, which include but are not limited to space planning, mobilizations, action items, producing data sheets, and drafting engineering specifications and standards. Additionally, the technician will track the status of engineering progress and generate and process forms for the distribution of electronic engineering documents. The role also involves establishing and applying documentation standards for Flow Diagram Change Notices (FDCN) workflow procedures, developing logs to track project deviations, and assisting with progress reporting via EZTrac. The technician will prepare weekly and monthly status reports and may be assigned other duties as necessary. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, as it provides hands-on experience in a professional engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering assignments including space planning, mobilizations, action items, producing data sheets, and drafting engineering specifications and standards.
  • Track status on engineering progress.
  • Generate and process forms for the distribution of electronic engineering documents.
  • Establish and apply documentation standards for Flow Diagram Change Notices (FDCN) workflow procedures.
  • Develop logs to track project deviations.
  • Assist with progress reporting via EZTrac and preparation of weekly and monthly status reports.
  • Serve as a Company representative to external clients.
  • Participate in Fluor University for training and career development.
  • Contribute to and promote the use of Fluor's knowledge management portals and communities.
  • Participate in department/project meetings and training.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various audiences including management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.

Nice-to-haves

  • Participating in the Clemson Co-op Program.
  • Proficient in the use of Fluor specialized software programs.
  • Basic computer and software skills.
  • Basic interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
