About the position

The CO-OP Student position in Control & Autonomous Systems Engineering at MIT Lincoln Laboratory offers an opportunity for undergraduate or graduate students to engage in cutting-edge research and development in autonomous systems. The role involves collaboration with a diverse team to innovate and solve complex challenges in various environments, including aerial, ground, and underwater systems. Interns will gain hands-on experience in designing, developing, and testing software algorithms and hardware prototypes under the guidance of experienced technical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, development, and testing of software algorithms and hardware prototypes for autonomous systems.
  • Engage in projects related to pointing and stabilization of space optical payloads.
  • Contribute to small satellite state estimation and control.
  • Assist in precision navigation of autonomous aerial, ground, and underwater vehicles.
  • Support coordination of teams of heterogeneous unmanned systems.
  • Conduct basic research on efficient human-robot interaction and teaming.

Requirements

  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Robotics Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics.
  • Coursework or hands-on research experience with controls, robotics, computer vision, and/or machine learning is desired.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
