About the position

The Co-op Student position in Mechanical Engineering at Nutrien is designed for current students who are pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. This temporary, full-time role offers hands-on experience in a real-world engineering environment, specifically at the Aurora, North Carolina Phosphate facility. The position involves preparing engineering scopes of work, assisting with project administration, and troubleshooting process-related issues, all while adhering to safety protocols and working in various conditions.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of engineering scope of work and cost estimates in response to engineering requests and administration submitted by other departments.
• Project administration responsibility associated with capital projects, including specifications, purchase requisitions, hazard reviews, and bid analysis.
• Assist with project work and advancing process-related projects.
• Troubleshoot process problems and inspect chemical processing equipment.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering or equivalent program at an accredited post-secondary institution.
• Completed at least 1 year of undergraduate study and will return to full-time studies after the work term.
• Demonstrate positive safety behavior and leadership.
• Strong interpersonal teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
• Comfortable working at heights, outdoors, and around potentially hazardous chemicals.
• Physically capable of entering and working in confined spaces.
• Familiar with Microsoft's Office Suite.
