About the position

The CO Programmer Analyst will be responsible for the creation, implementation, maintenance, performance, production support, and documentation of various departmental and enterprise-wide application systems. This role involves working with both new and upgraded applications, operating systems, and productivity tools, while translating business requirements into functional specifications and designs. The analyst will also maintain databases and application system code, ensuring effective support and resolution of operational issues.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Clinical Practice Association Process Improvement projects.
  • Lead Epic upgrade efforts related to workflow in Epic.
  • Manage Optum claims management responsibilities for issue resolution.
  • Identify issues and collaborate with the team to create/edit solutions, assist with upgrades, and resolve operational issues.
  • Work with the Epic IT team on operational issues.
  • Oversee project life cycle responsibilities for Clinical Practice Association expansion and other projects.
  • Independently perform tasks once priorities are set, with regular process updates.
  • Define business/clinical/education problems by meeting with clients to observe and understand current processes and issues.
  • Gather system requirements by meeting with clients and researching existing technology.
  • Develop detailed tasks by analyzing project scope and milestones to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Write functional/technical specifications based on provided system requirements.
  • Develop/change data input, files/database structures, data transformation, algorithms, and data output using appropriate tools.
  • Document code and associated processes to simplify maintenance and improve support.
  • Create and document test scenarios to validate application functionality.
  • Test all changes to ensure delivered solutions work as expected and handle errors meaningfully.
  • Author and maintain documentation for technical and end-user references.
  • Implement changes by adhering to change management policies and procedures.
  • Monitor changes and resolve problems proactively to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Provide support by triaging and resolving issues for effective service.
  • Assist report consumers with operational reporting issues and ad hoc reports.
  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence teams for testing and reconciliation of operational reporting data.
  • Handle multiple priorities from different customers across various departments.
  • Work closely with departments to develop functional/technical specifications and process improvement recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Epic analysts to address operational issues and determine upgrade impacts.
  • Work with vendors to resolve operational issues, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Assist financial directors and departments in developing technical specifications and pulling operational reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • One year of related experience in programming or analysis.
  • Ability to complete and pass certification in assigned EPIC application module(s) within 120 days of employment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills.
  • Ability to prioritize conflicting demands and execute project tasks within established schedules.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate exemplary customer service skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge in the assigned application and the platform it runs on.
  • Healthcare experience with direct professional fee billing experience.
  • Strong operational workflow background.
  • Epic experience is highly desired.
  • Optum claims manager knowledge preferred.
  • Experience running queries and analyzing professional fee data preferred.
