About the position
The Co-Teacher position at Wild Child San Diego Nature School involves working in an outdoor nature school environment with a mixed-age class of children aged 20 months to 6 years, and up to 10 years during summer camp. The role requires collaboration with a team of teachers to manage classroom activities, support children's learning, and ensure a safe and engaging outdoor experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage behaviors of children aged 20 months to 6 years (up to 10 years during summer camp)
- Change diapers and assist with changing children's clothes
- Lead a pre-scripted circle time
- Support nature walks and lead art projects
- Read books to children and help put them down for nap time
- Clean supplies and assist with setting up and taking down the outdoor classroom
- Contribute lesson plans if desired
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Childcare CPR Certification
- Classroom experience
- Montessori Associate's degree or Child Development Associate Certification
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with outdoor education
- Familiarity with nature-based learning
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans
