About the position

A Coach is responsible for overseeing the development and success of student-athletes or participants in a specific athletic or activity program. This role includes planning and conducting practice sessions, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants. The Coach collaborates with other staff, maintains communication with parents, and supports the academic and personal growth of students. Additional duties may include assisting with team selection, managing equipment, organizing events or competitions, and representing the program within the school and community.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the development and success of student-athletes or participants in the softball program.
• Plan and conduct practice sessions.
• Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
• Collaborate with other staff and maintain communication with parents.
• Support the academic and personal growth of students.
• Assist with team selection and manage equipment.
• Organize events or competitions and represent the program within the school and community.

Requirements

• Previous experience in coaching or playing softball, with a strong understanding of the rules, techniques, and strategies.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff in both individual and group settings.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their best.
• Knowledge of safety protocols, injury prevention, and first aid, with a commitment to ensuring a safe environment for all participants.
• Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and respectful team culture that emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal development.
• Availability to attend practices, games, and other team-related events, including evenings and weekends as required.
