About the position

The Head Coach for the Boys Varsity Baseball team at Middle Early College #415 is responsible for coaching student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. This role involves overseeing the conduct of the team, ensuring adherence to ethical standards, and fostering positive relationships with students, parents, and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics.
  • Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Assume complete responsibility for the conduct of their team.
  • Supervise the use, issuance, return, cleaning, inventory, and storage of equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
  • Establish positive relationships with coaches, athletes, parents, and community members.
  • Attend meetings called by the Athletic Director or Building Principal.
  • Conduct an organization meeting with the athletes to explain try-outs and code of conduct.
  • Prepare and submit a schedule of scrimmages and non-league contests to the Athletic Director.
  • Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury.
  • Submit initial and final roster to the Athletic Director and update as necessary.
  • Report scores to news media when required.
  • Notify the Athletic Director and Building staff of any canceled games or unusual events.
  • Supervise team members after practices/games until all have left the locker room.
  • Complete end of season reports.
  • Make decisions regarding the team in keeping with established policies and procedures.
  • Assess player's skills and monitor players during competition and practice.
  • Participate in special activities such as parent's night and award nights.

Requirements

  • Some experience in organized baseball at the club, select, modified, junior varsity, varsity or college level preferred.
  • Effective coaching techniques and skills.
  • Knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
  • Must meet the FIRST AID/CPR/AED requirement prior to applying to coach.
