About the position
The Middle School Volleyball Coach at Jefferson Parish Schools is responsible for assisting the head coach in developing, organizing, and implementing the volleyball program. This role includes providing leadership to volleyball personnel and student athletes while adhering to all relevant rules and regulations. The coach will work after school hours and may also need to work on weekends and holidays to prepare the team for competition.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in the overall supervision of the volleyball program.
- Help maintain, inventory, and issue all volleyball equipment.
- Promote sportsmanship and good public relations within the school and community.
- Ensure all student athletes have current physical exams and adequate insurance coverage.
- Participate in professional development through workshops and clinics.
- Report rosters, schedules, scores, and eligibility documentation promptly as required by the parish and state.
- Communicate and cooperate with the school-based athletic director and administrator in charge of athletics.
- Perform all duties as assigned by the principal or appropriate administrator.
Requirements
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate and CECP completion or current LHSAA requirements.
- Possess a CDL class B or above with a P and S endorsement free of air brake restrictions.
- Meet all requirements of the Louisiana Department of Education school bus driver component.
- Demonstrated expertise and knowledge in basic volleyball fundamentals.
- Professional knowledge of LHSAA and JPPSS rules and regulations for volleyball.
- Expertise in conditioning athletes for the sport.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous playing experience in volleyball at the college or university level.
- Previous coaching experience at the junior varsity, junior high/middle school, or recreation level in volleyball.
- Knowledge and competency in first aid for volleyball injuries.
