About the position

The Swim Coach at Kennedy Krieger Institute will develop and implement swimming programs tailored for physically challenged participants, including both ambulatory and wheelchair athletes. This part-time role involves coaching, supervising volunteers, and ensuring a safe and effective learning environment for all participants.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group swim instruction and coaching.
• Supervise and educate volunteers assisting in the swim program.
• Maintain and inspect necessary equipment and facilities to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Develop an appropriate swim curriculum for various age groups and abilities.
• Assist in the development of swim special events and tournaments.
• Responsible for scheduling and communication of participants in the swim program.
• Attend competitions to supervise and coach swimmers.

Requirements

• Must possess and maintain Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
• Must possess and maintain CPR certification.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have previous experience coaching and instructing swimming.

Nice-to-haves

• Pool Manager certification desired.
• Personal Training certification desired.
• Previous experience working with athletes with a variety of disabilities is desired.
