About the position

The Coal Transition Community Business Development Manager will represent the Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) in supporting Colorado's coal transition communities. This role focuses on advancing economic development and providing resources to small businesses and entrepreneurs in these areas. The manager will engage with various stakeholders, develop outreach strategies, and coordinate initiatives to foster economic resilience and diversification in coal transition regions.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with Colorado's Coal Transition Communities and provide connections to relevant resources.
  • Develop and implement a written outreach strategy to promote programs in coal transition communities.
  • Serve as the primary outreach coordinator for the Freight Rail Tax Credit program.
  • Partner with OEDIT's Business Funding & Incentives team to promote the Coal Transition Community Grant program.
  • Act as a liaison to the ROO Rural Opportunity Representatives and provide feedback to support Just Transition strategies.
  • Support connections between regional small businesses and the Small Business Development Center Network.
  • Work closely with OEDIT's program managers to maximize investment and business activity in the region.
  • Partner with the Office of Just Transition to assist Coal Transition Communities with inquiries related to technical assistance and funding.
  • Represent the Manufacturer's Edge partnership in Coal Transition Communities.
  • Attend regional Just Transition events and engage in speaking engagements.
  • Support the Rural Technical Assistance Program initiatives.
  • Provide feedback for the improvement of internal programs and new initiatives.
  • Provide timely reporting and metrics for division goals and grant reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, finance, communications, marketing or relevant fields, or four years of professional work experience in a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in local government, business development, or economic development.
  • Experience with small business ownership, management, training, or consulting.
