About the position

The Cobol Developer with Java position at Dexian involves designing and developing complex online and batch mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, and DB2. The role requires expertise in application programming IDEs for mainframe and knowledge of batch job scheduling and version control tools. This position is hybrid, allowing for both onsite and remote work, and is a contract-to-hire opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex online and batch mainframe applications using COBOL.
• Utilize CICS as a Transaction Processing Monitor (TPM) and DB2 as a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS).
• Implement MQ and DB2 Connect for communication with distributed web applications.
• Manage batch jobs using JCL with catalog procedures and files (PS/PDS/VSAM).
• Perform and maintain scheduling activities of batch schedules using CA-Scheduler.
• Utilize application programming IDEs for mainframe (IDZ).
• Work with version control/configuration management tools such as Changeman.
• Reverse-engineer mainframe applications involving DB2 and CICS.

Requirements

• Proficient in COBOL programming language.
• Experience with CICS and DB2.
• Knowledge of MQ and DB2 Connect.
• Familiarity with JCL and batch job scheduling.
• Experience with CA-Scheduler for batch scheduling activities.
• Proficient in using application programming IDEs for mainframe (IDZ).
• Experience with version control/configuration management tools like Changeman.
• Ability to reverse-engineer mainframe applications.
