About the position
We are seeking a skilled COBOL Developer with expertise in iSeries/AS400 environments to join our team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). The role involves developing, maintaining, and enhancing COBOL applications, ensuring high performance and reliability while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain COBOL applications on iSeries/AS400 platforms.
- Analyze user requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Write efficient and maintainable code, following best practices.
- Debug and resolve issues in existing applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including QA, business analysts, and project managers.
- Perform system testing and support user acceptance testing.
- Document code changes and system modifications.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure compliance with coding standards and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in COBOL programming, particularly in iSeries/AS400 environments.
- Familiarity with DB2 databases and SQL.
- Knowledge of RPG, CL, and other programming languages is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Nice-to-haves
- Understanding of modern software development methodologies.
- Experience with tools such as SEU, SDA, and RDI (Rational Developer for iSeries).
- Familiarity with application integration and middleware solutions.
