About the position

We are seeking a skilled COBOL Developer with expertise in iSeries/AS400 environments to join our team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). The role involves developing, maintaining, and enhancing COBOL applications, ensuring high performance and reliability while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain COBOL applications on iSeries/AS400 platforms.
• Analyze user requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Write efficient and maintainable code, following best practices.
• Debug and resolve issues in existing applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including QA, business analysts, and project managers.
• Perform system testing and support user acceptance testing.
• Document code changes and system modifications.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Ensure compliance with coding standards and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in COBOL programming, particularly in iSeries/AS400 environments.
• Familiarity with DB2 databases and SQL.
• Knowledge of RPG, CL, and other programming languages is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Nice-to-haves

• Understanding of modern software development methodologies.
• Experience with tools such as SEU, SDA, and RDI (Rational Developer for iSeries).
• Familiarity with application integration and middleware solutions.
