About the position

The Cobol Software Developer position involves writing and maintaining software programs for operating systems, networked systems, and database systems. The role requires modifying existing software, designing new systems, and consulting with engineering staff to ensure effective software-hardware integration. This is a hybrid position allowing for remote work three days a week, with a focus on delivering high-quality software solutions over a six-month contract period.

Responsibilities

• Modify existing software to correct errors and improve performance.
• Design and develop software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models.
• Consult with engineering staff to evaluate hardware-software interfaces and resolve customer problems.
• Advise customers on software system maintenance.

Requirements

• High School Degree and Bachelor's degree in computer science or a relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
• 4 to 5 years of experience in software development.
• Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with SQL, Java, J2EE, and other computer development software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
