About the position

The City of Corona has an exciting opportunity to join our Planning and Development Department's Code Compliance Division as a Code Compliance Inspector. The Code Compliance Division promotes and maintains standards to preserve and enhance the quality of life and public safety for all who live, work, and play in the City of Corona. This is achieved by enforcing health and safety regulations as well as property maintenance codes, and a variety of zoning codes which cover land use, signs, and development standards. As a Code Compliance Inspector, you will be responsible for explaining codes and regulations to property owners, residents, and others. You will respond to inquiries, complaints, and requests for service in a fair, tactful, and timely manner. Additionally, you will prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials. Understanding, interpreting, and applying all pertinent laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to your work will be essential. You will need to use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy, procedural, and legal guidelines. The ideal candidate will be customer service-focused, possess excellent judgment, and have a keen attention to detail. A systems-oriented thinker and great team player, you will thrive in a high-performing environment that values outstanding quality of work and a positive workplace culture. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt, making you eligible for overtime compensation.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce health and safety regulations and property maintenance codes.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or G.E.D.
  • One year of administrative or technical experience in the field of code compliance involving a high level of public contact and customer service.
