The Code Compliance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a team engaged in the investigation and enforcement of various municipal codes and regulations. This role involves ensuring compliance with noise and land use regulations, solid waste management, and other city ordinances. The supervisor acts as a liaison between enforcement agencies and city departments, prepares reports, and may testify in court. The position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to train staff while managing multiple compliance-related tasks.

  • Supervise subordinates in the investigation and enforcement of municipal codes and regulations.
  • Act as a liaison between enforcement agencies and other City departments.
  • Collect samples and photographs for evidence.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence related to investigations.
  • Testify in court and attend administrative hearings as needed.
  • Prepare computerized spreadsheets, reports, and presentations using MS Office and Salesforce.
  • Train staff on compliance procedures and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Two years of full-time experience in the enforcement of federal, state, county, or municipal codes and ordinances, including field investigations and inspections.
  • Experience must include the authority to issue citations and/or revoke licenses.
  • Responsibility for the investigation and resolution of citizens' inquiries and complaints.
  • A valid California Class C Driver License is required at the time of hire.
  • Scheduled general wage increases of 2% effective 1/1/25 and 5% effective 7/1/25.
  • Special salary wage increase of 5% effective 1/1/25 for Code Compliance Supervisor positions.
  • Automatic enrollment in the San Diego City Employees Retirement System (SDCERS) for eligible employees.
