About the position
The Code Enforcement Officer position at the City of Portland Police Department is responsible for investigating and coordinating the improvement of code violations in both private and public properties. This role involves inspecting properties, documenting findings, and communicating with property owners to ensure compliance with city codes, ultimately aiming to maintain a healthy and aesthetically pleasing environment in Portland.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and evaluate code violations in properties within the city's jurisdiction.
- Visually and physically inspect properties for compliance with city codes.
- Document inspections and rehabilitation efforts related to code violations.
- Communicate with property owners and constituents regarding code violations and necessary actions.
- Issue notices of violation for non-compliance with city codes.
- Perform other work-related duties as required.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- Valid Texas Class C Drivers License with a good driving record required.
- Ability to obtain Code Enforcement Certification within one year of employment.
- Must pass a drug screen and physical exam.
- One or more years of code enforcement experience preferred.
