About the position

At Three Rivers Behavioral Health, a 129-bed facility located in West Columbia, SC, we are dedicated to providing a secure environment for healing, hope, treatment, and recovery. Our outpatient services feature a Partial Hospitalization Program for adults and seniors, as well as an Adult Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program that provides both day and evening sessions. The Full-Time Medical Coder position is integral to our medical records department, where you will be responsible for coding medical records accurately and efficiently. In addition to coding, you will provide clerical, technical, and related support services to ensure the smooth operation of the department. This role is essential in maintaining the integrity of our medical records and supporting the overall mission of Three Rivers Behavioral Health. Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate coding for medical records in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Assist with clerical and technical support services within the medical records department.
  • Ensure compliance with coding standards and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to clarify documentation and coding issues.

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience as a coder in Medical Records / Health Information Management.
  • Certification as RHIT under AHIMA or CPC under AAPC or CCA Accreditation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a behavioral health setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding.
