About the position

The Coding Quality Audit Reviewer at Henrico Doctors' Hospital is responsible for conducting internal quality assessments of coding practices to ensure compliance with national guidelines and company policies. This role focuses on improving the accuracy and integrity of patient data, enhancing physician documentation, and ensuring appropriate reimbursement. The position allows for remote work and is part of a larger commitment to community service and employee development.

Responsibilities

• Perform internal quality assessment reviews on Health Information Management Service Center coders.
• Ensure compliance with national coding guidelines and company policies.
• Communicate review outcomes to improve coding accuracy and integrity.
• Lead and coordinate quality reviews for inpatient and outpatient coding.
• Assist in ensuring adherence to coding guidelines and policies among staff.
• Demonstrate expert knowledge of medical coding practices and concepts.
• Participate in special reviews or projects as needed.
• Maintain productivity and accuracy standards as per company policy.
• Review data quality standards and coding guidelines to keep skills current.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in Health Information Management (HIM) or Health Information Technology (HIT) preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in acute care inpatient and outpatient coding required.
• Minimum of 3 years' coding auditing or monitoring experience preferred.
• RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with DRG Validation/Auditing.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
