About the position

The Coding Quality Audit Reviewer at HCA Healthcare is responsible for conducting internal quality assessments of coding practices to ensure compliance with national guidelines and company policies. This role focuses on improving the accuracy and integrity of patient data, enhancing physician documentation, and ensuring appropriate reimbursement. The position allows for remote work and is part of a larger commitment to community service and employee development.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, coordinates, and performs quality reviews for inpatient and outpatient coding across multiple Health Information Management Service Centers (HSCs).
  • Ensures adherence of HSC coding staff to coding guidelines and policies.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of medical coding practices and concepts.
  • Participates in special reviews or projects as needed.
  • Maintains or exceeds 95% productivity and accuracy standards.
  • Reviews official data quality standards, coding guidelines, and clinical resources to ensure current knowledge and skills.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Health Information Management (HIM) or Health Information Technology (HIT) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in acute care inpatient and outpatient coding required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' coding auditing or monitoring experience strongly preferred.
  • RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with DRG Validation/Auditing.
  • Familiarity with coding compliance and reimbursement processes.
