About the position
The Coding Tutor position at Excel Academy involves providing tutoring in Computer Science to K-12 students, specifically those in grades 3 through 12. Tutors will have the opportunity to work both online and on-site at two locations in Las Vegas, NV. The role requires a strong understanding of programming languages, particularly Python, and the ability to engage students in learning coding concepts effectively.
Responsibilities
- Provide tutoring in Computer Science for students in grades 3 through 12.
- Assist students with understanding programming concepts and languages, primarily Python.
- Prepare lesson plans and materials tailored to individual student needs.
- Evaluate student progress and provide feedback to students and parents.
- Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate student availability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field or at least 2 years of Computer Science teaching or tutoring experience.
- Proficiency in Python (required).
- Experience with AP Computer Science (required).
- Familiarity with JavaScript and C++ (optional).
- Availability for a minimum of four days per week.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in coding tutoring for at least 1 year.
- Experience in general tutoring for at least 2 years.
