About the position

The Coffee Shop Manager at SpartanNash is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the coffee shop within a retail store. This role includes managing staff, ensuring product quality, maintaining inventory, and meeting company goals and performance indicators. The manager will also implement company policies, train associates, and ensure compliance with food safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day activities of the coffee shop operations.
  • Order and maintain inventory while ensuring product freshness and quality.
  • Review and validate received orders for accuracy and condition.
  • Manage a team responsible for stocking, production, and quality assurance.
  • Maintain familiarity with all products in the department and store.
  • Communicate and execute the weekly and period Flight Plan to company expectations.
  • Implement work schedules, labor control, and payroll expense management.
  • Model core values and competencies of the company.
  • Manage staffing, training, performance management, and career development of associates.
  • Develop and monitor department goals and forecasts.
  • Participate in daily huddles and manager meetings as required.
  • Maintain a clean and well-stocked department following company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and safety guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED).
  • Two years of retail experience preferred.
  • One-year supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organization, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities in a hands-on environment.
  • Good strategic planning and business acumen skills.
  • Knowledge of retail store operations and management systems.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a coffee shop or food service environment.
  • Knowledge of inventory control procedures.
  • Familiarity with retail management systems.
