About the position

The Cognitive Behavioral Instructor at the Lansing Correctional Facility is responsible for facilitating structured Cognitive Behavioral Curriculums for designated criminal justice populations. This role emphasizes skill-building activities aimed at enhancing cognitive, social, emotional, and coping skills among incarcerated individuals. The instructor will implement specific curricula designed by the University of Cincinnati, ensuring that participants receive individualized support and guidance throughout the program.

Responsibilities

  • Implement a set curriculum based on the Cognitive Behavioral Curriculum Interventions for the Substance Misuse Program.
  • Attend specialized trainings to understand the curriculum requirements.
  • Complete required forms and paperwork in a timely manner to meet curriculum standards.
  • Facilitate one-on-one and group sessions for incarcerated participants, providing guidance and mentoring.
  • Develop and assign individualized practice work to enhance skill development of participants.
  • Maintain a professional presence and appropriate boundaries at the correctional facility.
  • Create and implement activities for participants to develop social skills as defined by the curriculum.
  • Track and document client and program outcomes, providing reports to supervisors and stakeholders.
  • Assist in establishing a referral and screening process for program eligibility.
  • Monitor and report on achievement of output and outcome goals for the project.

Requirements

  • Mid-level experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of cognitive behavioral interventions and substance misuse programs.
  • Ability to work with criminal justice populations and understand their unique needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a correctional facility setting.
  • Familiarity with the University of Cincinnati's Cognitive Behavioral Curriculum.
