About the position

The Collection Production Manager I position at Truist Bank is a full-time role based in Richmond, VA, with a hybrid work schedule that supports teams in two other locations, specifically Lumberton and Charleston, WV. The manager is open to candidates from these locations but has a preference for those based in Richmond. This role is pivotal in leading a team responsible for collection and recovery activities, ensuring that all teammates adhere to standardized collection procedures for their assigned accounts. The manager will be tasked with executing and delivering critical business components as determined by Key Performance Indicators (KPI) through effective hiring, training, development, and motivation of teammates. In this position, the manager will ensure that teammates follow standardized collection procedures and will monitor objectives using standard management reporting systems. Ongoing training and feedback will be provided to teammates to promote appropriate performance, engagement, and career development. The manager will also review and analyze performance reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to identify trends and take necessary actions to improve performance. The role requires ensuring that accounts are treated appropriately based on their status and regulatory requirements, in line with Default Management policies. The manager will be responsible for meeting established performance objectives related to delinquency, non-performing assets, loan losses, and recovery. Continuous improvement in department processes will be a focus, with the manager providing feedback and information to assist with departmental projects. Compliance with all policies and procedures is essential, and the manager will make recommendations regarding employment decisions, training, performance ratings, and other personnel matters. Additional duties may be assigned by the Collections Manager as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a group of teammates handling collection/recovery activities.
  • Train and ensure that assigned teammates follow standardized collection procedures for all assigned accounts.
  • Monitor objectives using standard management reporting systems.
  • Provide ongoing training and feedback to teammates to ensure appropriate performance, engagement, and career development.
  • Review and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports for trends and take necessary actions.
  • Ensure appropriate approval, disposition, and treatment for accounts based on account status and regulatory requirements.
  • Meet established performance objectives for assigned accounts as measured by delinquency, non-performing assets, loan losses, recovery, etc.
  • Provide information and feedback to ensure continuous improvement in department processes.
  • Ensure execution and compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Make recommendations for teammates regarding employment, training, performance ratings, salary changes, promotions, transfers, and terminations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and related training.
  • Three years of experience in default or equivalent leadership experience.
  • One year of experience successfully leading a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in routine and non-routine situations.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to recommend operational and process improvements.
