About the position
The Part-time Collections Associate at the University of Massachusetts Lowell will support the physical and electronic library collections. This role involves project-based tasks that may change as projects are completed, with a focus on providing meaningful access to information and resources. Responsibilities
- Support physical and electronic library collections.
- Reformat legacy electronic texts into new systems.
- Evaluate gifts of books following established standards.
- Participate in collections projects such as inventory and book shifting.
- Unpack and check in new book shipments.
- Communicate effectively with various library employees, often over email and Microsoft Teams.
- Promote the University's commitment to customer service.
Requirements
- Evidence of at least one year of college coursework.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Willingness and enthusiasm for learning new software and technical skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with advanced search and faceting features in library catalogs, e-commerce systems, and internet search engines.
- Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a library environment.
- Associate's degree or greater.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds.
