About the position

The Collections Manager at Oregon Community Credit Union (OCCU) is responsible for leading and managing the operations of the Collections team. This role focuses on ensuring effective communication, teamwork, and achievement of goals while providing exceptional member service. The manager oversees loss mitigation functions, including first-party collections and workout loans, and ensures compliance with procedural and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the operations of the Collections team.
• Ensure optimum communication and teamwork within the team.
• Champion exceptional member service while driving production results.
• Oversee loss mitigation functions including first-party collections and workout loans.
• Conduct regular feedback and development meetings with team members.
• Establish and monitor key performance metrics for Collections functions.
• Monitor member complaints and feedback for improvement.
• Manage and monitor member contact systems to optimize productivity.
• Ensure compliance with OCCU's standards for collection activities.
• Oversee third-party partners and prepare performance reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business management, finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of five years of experience in collections management.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to lead and develop a high-functioning team.
• Competency in business and collections technology.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with virtual systems and member engagement technologies.
• Knowledge of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.
