As a Collections Representative at Optum, you will play a crucial role in the billing department, working remotely within the Mountain or Pacific Time Zones. This full-time position requires you to engage in various tasks that directly impact the financial health of the organization and the well-being of our patients. You will be responsible for processing payments, adjustments, claims, and correspondence in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring that you meet the established goals for work quality and productivity. Your role will involve coordinating with other staff members and physician office staff to ensure correct processing of accounts, which is essential for maximizing reimbursement and maintaining the integrity of our financial operations. In this position, you will reconcile and balance account payments and denials, utilizing payor remits, facility contracts, and customer service interactions to resolve discrepancies. You will also research payments and denials to identify short or overpayments, contract discrepancies, and internal or external errors. Building strong working relationships with assigned business units and hospital departments will be key to your success, as you will need to identify trends in payment issues and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers to educate and resolve problems. Your responsibilities will also include responding to incoming calls and making outbound calls to address billing, payment, and accounting issues, providing excellent customer service to patients, their families, and other stakeholders.
