About the position
Public Employees Credit Union is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Collector to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing accounts in arrears, negotiating repayment plans, and providing support to our members, thereby playing a key role in maintaining the financial health of the credit union.
Responsibilities
- Manage assigned delinquent accounts and proactively contact members to discuss repayment options.
- Negotiate payment terms and work with members to develop repayment plans within PECU's policies.
- Monitor and document all communications and actions taken on each account using internal systems.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal guidelines during all collection activity.
- Collaborate with internal departments, such as lending or legal, to resolve account disputes and inconsistencies.
- Stay up to date on financial regulations, debt collection laws, and company policies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous collections experience within a financial institution is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information professionally.
- Excellent attention to detail and organization skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a positive attitude when dealing with challenging situations.
