About the position

The College and Career Success Coach at Horton's Kids is a part-time role focused on supporting high school juniors and seniors in achieving their academic and career goals. This position involves providing guidance on college and career applications, assisting with the FAFSA process, and monitoring students' progress towards graduation. The coach will work closely with a small caseload of students, fostering positive relationships and ensuring they have the resources needed to succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with high school juniors and seniors to develop personalized academic and career goals.
  • Assist students with college and career applications, including researching programs, completing applications, and submitting required materials.
  • Guide students through the FAFSA application process and explore financial aid options to support their post-secondary education.
  • Monitor students' credit accumulation and progress towards graduation requirements under the direction of the CCR manager, maintaining regular communication with school personnel.
  • Provide personalized support to a caseload of 5-7 students, offering guidance and resources to help them succeed.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with students to assess progress, address challenges, and celebrate accomplishments.
  • Work closely with the College and Career Manager to develop strategies to support student success.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress towards goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social work, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience working with high school students in an educational or youth development setting.
  • Strong knowledge of college and career application processes, FAFSA, and financial aid options.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and school staff.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a caseload effectively.
  • Commitment to supporting students in achieving their full potential.
