About the position

The College Assistant position at the Department of Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice is a part-time role focused on providing clerical, administrative, and research support. Responsibilities

  • Perform routine clerical work including answering phone calls and maintaining records.
  • Operate office machines such as copiers and sort/distribute mail.
  • Type letters, memoranda, charts, and similar materials.
  • Assist in statistical or research activities, including data collection and entry.
  • Perform clerical library work such as sorting and shelving books.
  • Assist in instructional programs and tutoring students in various subjects.
  • Maintain departmental records including inventory control and schedules.
  • Manage AV, catering, and facilities requests for special events.
  • Act as a point of communication between faculty and students.
  • Assist the director in scheduling program courses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three years of administrative experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with integrated library systems.
  • Familiarity with in-house systems such as TimesheetX, RFCuny, CourseDog, CUNYFirst, and CUNY Buy.
