About the position

As the College Athletic Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our athletic programs and igniting the passion of student-athletes. In this role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive care for all injuries and illnesses sustained by student-athletes, maintaining detailed medical files, and coordinating athletic training coverage for home games and high-risk sports events. You will also be expected to foster strong relationships among trainers, team physicians, health services, coaches, athletes, and parents, ensuring a collaborative approach to athlete care. Adhering to established ethical guidelines and maintaining sports medicine facilities and equipment will be crucial aspects of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will prepare and manage the sports medicine budget, assist head coaches with injury prevention and physical conditioning, and contribute to the organization of special events, tournaments, and fundraisers. Your leadership will extend to overseeing the usage and updating of Healthy Roster for coaches, compliance, and emergencies, ensuring that all aspects of athlete health and safety are prioritized. Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care for all injuries and illnesses sustained by student athletes.
  • Maintain a medical file for each student-athlete, including written records of all care rendered.
  • Coordinate AT coverage for all home games/events of high-risk sports, and as many away contests as needed.
  • Provide support, as needed, for all practice sessions on campus. Be on call for all teams practicing off campus.
  • Foster relationships among trainers, the team physician, other attending physicians, health services, coaches, athletes, and parents.
  • Adhere to CAAHEP accredited programs, NATA Code of Ethics, Code of Professional Practice, Department of Health Guidelines for Conduct of Licensees, and NAIA Code of Ethics.
  • Maintain the sports medicine facilities and equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain the sports medicine budget.
  • Assist the head coaches with injury prevention and physical conditioning.
  • Assist in special events and tournaments, championships, fundraisers, and/or clinics.
  • Prepare an inventory list for Fall orders. Coordinate with AD all equipment needing servicing or replacement.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of good working relationships with all athletics staff members and student-athletes through a positive and constructive approach to all tasks, respect for the competencies of others, and appropriate conflict resolution behavior.
  • Oversee the usage and updating of Healthy Roster for coaches, compliance, and emergencies.

Requirements

  • Master's degree required
  • National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) certification required
  • Three years of experience in a collegiate athletic training setting
