About the position

The College & Career Case Manager at Carson High School is a part-time position with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson, dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for youth. The primary function of this role is to plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate activities related to the College Programs offered at the Club Site. The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson is to empower young people to become lifelong learners through outcome-based programs that promote personal growth and development. In this role, the Case Manager will be responsible for preparing youth for success by promoting program participation, registering new members, and providing guidance and role modeling. The position involves the effective implementation and administration of the College & Career program services, which includes organizing workshops, tutoring sessions, and various activities that cater to the interests of the members, such as Healthy Life Styles, Financial Literacy, and STEM initiatives. The Case Manager will also provide direct services through one-on-one case management and group workshops, ensuring that members receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially. Additionally, the Case Manager will manage program supplies, address concerns from parents and teachers, and coordinate special projects to increase college awareness among members. This includes seeking out enrichment opportunities, preparing schedules of activities, and collaborating with the College & Career Coordinator to provide updated resources. The role also requires maintaining order and discipline among members, ensuring a safe and productive environment, and participating in ongoing staff meetings to foster teamwork and communication. The Case Manager will be expected to monitor and assess programs to ensure quality and safety, prepare periodic activity reports, and maintain a clean and organized environment. The position may also involve additional responsibilities such as participating in special programs, obtaining a Class B license to drive the Club van, and supporting other programs as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate activities for the College Programs offered at the Club Site.
  • Promote and stimulate program participation among youth.
  • Register new members and support their club orientation process.
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
  • Effectively implement and administer the College & Career program services and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
  • Provide direct services for members through group workshops and one-on-one case management.
  • Provide daily homework and tutoring assistance for members.
  • Manage program supplies and order as needed.
  • Address concerns, questions, and issues of parents and/or teachers.
  • Advise the High School Director of any program needs, concerns, and problems.
  • Coordinate special projects, events, and activities to increase college awareness among members.
  • Seek out enrichment and academic opportunities for students, including programs and scholarships.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly schedules of activities, programs, and workshops.
  • Collaborate with the College & Career Coordinator for updated resources and programs.
  • Create learning center bulletin boards and displays of member activities.
  • Build awareness of the program and recruit members.
  • Monitor and assess programs and activities to ensure safety and quality.
  • Prepare periodic activity reports.
  • Maintain order and discipline of members by managing their behavior.
  • Help develop injury prevention methods and evaluate injuries.
  • Ensure a productive work environment by participating in ongoing staff meetings.
  • Maintain a clean room/environment by sweeping, disinfecting, and organizing at the end of the day.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two years of college experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of youth development.
  • Demonstrates high level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others on how to apply procedures and standards.
  • Ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive data and information.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
  • Ability to deal with the general public.
  • Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications and TB clearance.
  • Must be fully vaccinated.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
