About the position

The College Data Analyst at YES Prep Public Schools plays a crucial role in empowering stakeholders to make data-driven decisions that enhance the college application process and improve student outcomes. This position involves extensive collaboration with the Analytics and College Initiatives teams to provide accurate and timely data insights, develop advanced visualizations, and support strategic goals aimed at increasing college matriculation and completion rates.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the data champion for College Initiatives, building expertise in college application processes and alumni data.
  • Develop and share analysis on College Initiative programming, goal setting, and progress monitoring.
  • Lead scoping strategy and vision to align with tools and technology.
  • Stay updated on data trends and industry standards to increase college matriculation rates.
  • Create innovative dashboards and data visualizations for College Initiative programming.
  • Evaluate data sets to determine best visualization methods.
  • Act as a strategic partner by resolving end-user questions promptly.
  • Develop training and support for data visualizations and reports.
  • Support the Director of Analytics in delivering data insights from complex data sets.
  • Design and provide training on interactive data visualizations for leadership.
  • Manage multiple surveys for the College Initiatives team, including design and analysis of results.
  • Manage data system changes for college applications and alumni matriculation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with data.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Proven track record of data analysis to solve problems and drive improvement.
  • Intermediate expertise with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work outside of normal hours and on weekends.
  • Openness to giving and receiving feedback.
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Expertise in managing data systems and data collection.
  • Ability to manage survey design, administration, and analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in Economics, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • Experience as an analyst.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
