About the position

The College Intern Marketing/Communications position at Health Alliance Plan offers a unique opportunity for students to gain practical experience in the healthcare and insurance sector. Interns will work closely with industry professionals, contribute to departmental goals, and collaborate on a Capstone Project to present to HAP leadership. This internship emphasizes skill development in research, project coordination, and customer service while providing networking opportunities and exposure to various aspects of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research on industry trends, healthcare policies, and emerging technologies.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports to support strategic decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in the planning, development, and implementation of projects.
  • Contribute innovative ideas and support the execution of initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and customer experience.
  • Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of healthcare-related data.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity, utilizing appropriate software tools and methodologies.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and propose innovative solutions to streamline workflows.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation, including policies, procedures, and project-related materials.
  • Generate regular reports, dashboards, and presentations to effectively communicate project progress and outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments to support a positive and inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, an accredited 4-year undergraduate or graduate program in a relevant field.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data analysis tools.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, initiative, and a desire to learn and grow.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge or interest in healthcare, health insurance, or managed care is a plus.
  • Proficiency in a PC-based environment; Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Social media proficiency.
  • Able to submit samples of college course work to demonstrate marketing communications/design or writing proficiency.
