About the position
Meijer offers an 11-week internship program designed to provide students with hands-on experience in the finance function of a retail enterprise, specifically focusing on Risk Management. This internship is an experiential education program that challenges interns to deliver innovative solutions to real projects that impact the business. Throughout the internship, participants will engage in diverse personal and professional development opportunities that enhance their skillsets, which can be applied both during and after the program. The internship program includes opportunities for interaction with other interns and senior leaders at Meijer, fostering a collaborative learning environment. Interns will work on challenging and impactful projects, culminating in final presentations delivered to senior executives. The program also features an executive speaker series, professional development and training opportunities, and networking and community events designed to drive engagement. Events will highlight key areas of the business, providing interns with a comprehensive understanding of Meijer's operations and strategic goals. As a Risk Management Intern, participants will gain a breadth of experience in the finance function, focusing on Risk Management. Interns will assist the Risk Manager on special projects that emphasize claim analytics and reporting, gaining valuable insights into claims management systems and complex insurance programs while communicating with various business areas across the organization.

- Providing the Risk Manager assistance on special projects focusing around claim analytics and reporting.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a degree program, preferably progressing toward a bachelor's degree in Insurance and Risk Management (junior level candidate preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Attention to detail and a drive for results, with a focus on the bottom line.
- Customer focus, dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers.
- Strong relationship skills to create positive working relationships with customers, team members, leadership, and other internal and external constituencies.
- Effective communication skills, capable of conveying the right information in writing and verbally.
