Join the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) as a Research Project Support Assistant for the Energy Institute (EI) and Earth and Environmental Systems Institute (EESI). This newly created position is integral to our world-renowned research institutes, focusing on providing essential research administration support. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in research operations, ensuring seamless coordination and compliance with funding guidelines. Your responsibilities will encompass data management, logistics coordination, and facilitating communication across various teams. As a Research Project Support Assistant, you will facilitate the transition from proposal to award setup, maintaining and updating research files and sponsored funds lists. You will monitor project expenditures, timelines, and balances, working closely with project Principal Investigators (PIs) to approve sub-award invoices. Additionally, you will aid in budget planning, modification, and forecasting within sponsor guidelines, assist with cost-share tracking, transaction details, and project closeout procedures. You will also provide faculty and departmental administrative staff with salary balances on projects to assist with labor distributions. Your role will involve advising the EMS Finance Office, appropriate faculty and departmental administrators, and students on related expenditure policies and procedures. You will provide necessary information to the EMS Finance Office to ensure proper accounting of any expenditures required for research activities. Furthermore, you will support data management activities through data entry, coding, and generating reports, while maintaining documentation and records related to research activities, personnel certifications, operating procedures, and safety requirements. Laboratory support will also be part of your responsibilities, including coordinating schedules, managing inventory, and maintaining safety documentation.
