About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Colleton River Club is a pivotal leadership role that requires a dynamic and experienced individual to oversee the financial operations of the club. This position is not just about managing finances; it is about providing strategic leadership and vision to ensure that the club operates efficiently and effectively. The CFO will work closely with the CEO and the management team to implement operational controls, administrative procedures, and reporting systems that align with the club's objectives. In this role, the CFO will be responsible for the financial health of the club, ensuring that all financial reports and tax forms are submitted accurately and promptly. The successful candidate will also oversee the preparation of audit papers and ensure that no material weaknesses are found in the annual audit. The CFO will play a crucial role in budgeting and financial planning, directing and interpreting all accounting and reporting aspects of the club's operations. This includes preparing monthly financial statements, developing payroll budgets, and working closely with department heads to adhere to budgetary guidelines. The CFO will also manage the club's banking relationships, oversee real estate transactions, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. This position requires a hands-on leader who is willing to engage with their team at all levels, demonstrating resilience and a profound understanding of the organization's culture. Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, management, and vision to ensure proper operational controls and reporting procedures are in place.
  • Work closely with the CEO and management team to support the club's strategic plan.
  • Supervise the Controller, Assistant Controller, Accountants, and Accounts Receivable staff.
  • Assist with hiring, training, performance coaching, and disciplining of Accounting department employees.
  • Ensure that no material weaknesses are found in the annual audit and that all financial reports are submitted accurately and promptly.
  • Prepare and issue monthly financial statements and supporting schedules in a timely manner.
  • Direct, monitor, report, and interpret all accounting, reporting, and budgetary aspects of the Club's operation.
  • Oversee the Club's IT support needs and evaluate software systems for accounting and membership management.
  • Maintain relationships with the bank to manage Club accounts, loans, and investments.
  • Supervise the coordination of real estate transactions and manage new member setup requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of five years of related experience and/or training in finance and accounting.
  • Excellent knowledge of finance, accounting, and financial management techniques.
  • Skilled in analyzing and interpreting data and preparing reports, including forecasting and modeling.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to multitask and perform well in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA certification is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in country club and/or community association settings is preferred.
