As a Color Technologist II at PPG, you will play a crucial role in preparing color samples for evaluation and formulation to support our Aerospace team. This position is based at our Mojave Plant in California, where you will report directly to the Color Engineering Manager. Your primary responsibilities will include mixing wet paint, spraying paint samples, testing and adjusting color samples, and learning the methodology and art of color formulation. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of color science and the ability to apply this knowledge in practical settings. In this position, you will perform formulations of new colors in various topcoat products, ensuring that you accurately read and interpret customer specifications. You will also be responsible for conducting data analysis to support your formulations. A strong background in coatings techniques is essential, as you will be setting up and operating electronic, mechanical, or hand-operated laboratory equipment for batch making, paint application, and related processes. Your knowledge of chemistry, mathematical calculations, and color science will be vital in developing products under the guidance of your manager. Additionally, you will observe, record, investigate, duplicate, and validate successful procedures, performing calculations and assessments to convert laboratory scale formulas to large-scale manufacturing processes.
