About the position

Valley Health Medical Group is seeking a Colorectal Surgeon to provide joint services in Oncology and General Surgery. The successful applicant will join an established surgical team at Winchester Medical Center (WMC), a tertiary care referral hospital and Level II Trauma Center. WMC is part of Valley Health, a regional non-profit organization that includes six hospitals. For the year 2023-2024, WMC has been designated as "High Performing in Colon Cancer Surgery" by US News and World Report. The medical group is a multispecialty group with over 300 providers that span over the Shenandoah Valley and West Virginia panhandle. Winchester Medical Center offers state-of-the-art operating rooms, a 48-bed intensive care unit staffed by a dedicated critical care service, and a sixty-bed Emergency Department that sees over 65,000 patients annually. The Colorectal Surgeon will collaborate with another Colorectal Surgeon and two Surgical Oncologists in providing care for cancer patients at the state-of-the-art Cancer Center. The role also involves maintaining the Cancer Center's Rectal Cancer accreditation through the NAPRC. Additionally, the surgeon will work alongside General Surgeons and Gastroenterologists in managing benign diseases of the colon and rectum. Responsibilities

  • Provide surgical care for cancer patients at the Cancer Center.
  • Collaborate with another Colorectal Surgeon and Surgical Oncologists.
  • Maintain the Cancer Center's Rectal Cancer accreditation through the NAPRC.
  • Work with General Surgeons and Gastroenterologists on benign diseases of the colon and rectum.
  • Implement leadership in developing the colorectal surgery service.
  • Grow the colorectal surgery practice within the health system.

Requirements

  • Board certified/eligible in general surgery.
  • Completed fellowship training in Colorectal Surgery.
