About the position

The Columbia Budget Analyst at Energy Northwest is responsible for providing business consulting services to management groups, focusing on financial and business issues. The role involves promoting sound business decisions in planning, budgeting, financial analysis, and risk management, while ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting principles. The analyst will lead the development and execution of corporate budget management, monitor cost performance, and provide technical direction for project managers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, coordination, tracking, and execution of corporate budget development and change management.
  • Analyze organizational cost performance against budget, providing monthly financial summaries and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Provide project controls and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) information for Capital and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) projects.
  • Assist project managers in developing project scope, schedules, cost estimates, and financial analysis.
  • Maintain and monitor the Columbia Station Long-range Plan (LRP) for Capital and Expense projects.
  • Identify key risks and ensure compensating internal controls are in place.
  • Collaborate proactively within the department and with external customers.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities in team initiatives or projects.
  • Conduct special assignments and benchmarking studies for business-related issues.
  • Participate in the Emergency Response team and support biennial refueling outages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 10 years of industrial level experience in financial/accounting/budgeting/risk positions, preferably in a large company.
  • AA degree and 12 years of relevant experience, or a High school diploma/GED and 14 years of relevant experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the nuclear industry, particularly with the refueling outage process.
  • Previous experience with financial analysis and control activities for refueling outages.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders on cost reporting and estimating.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI for cost input and maintenance.
