About the position

The Customer Service Assistant 1 position at the Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) involves providing essential support in scheduling exams, managing documentation, and ensuring effective communication with both internal and external customers. This role is crucial in maintaining the flow of information and services related to workers' compensation claims, contributing to the agency's mission of delivering excellent customer experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule BWC requested exams with BWC Disability Evaluator Physicians (DEP) and follow up to ensure timely receipt of physicians' reports.
  • Index documents from fax queues.
  • Operate a PC and general office equipment such as telephones, fax machines, and copiers.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams effectively.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with internal and external customers.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • 3 months of training or 3 months of experience in office practices and procedures.
  • 1 course or 3 months of experience in public relations or customer service, including techniques for dealing with difficult people.
  • 1 course or 3 months of experience in typing, keyboarding, data entry, or word processing.
  • 1 course or 3 months of experience in the operation of a personal computer.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of accounting and BWC policies and procedures.
  • Experience with BWC-specific software packages such as WCIS, PS, and COR.
